As in the title, the first post of this blog is the Day 1 for Figure Design class. In this first class, I drew a few gesture drawings under limited timed to test our speed drawing and construction of poses. Due to different time challenge, I need to draw these gestures under different speed and constructions. For longer time, I could put some black in the character and details but for shorter time, I just be able to construct simple line with masses to complete the gesture.
I started with under seconds,
10 seconds |
20 seconds |
40 seconds |
To draw the full gestures under seconds especially the shortest time 10 seconds, the figure shouldn't be to details. It need to have the shape, most importantly and it show the line of action so that people know what the figures are doing at that time without being detailed.
And then, I went forth and back between minutes,
1 minute |
2 minutes |
4 minutes |
2 minutes |
With more time, I was able to throw some details into the drawings as I just need around 40 seconds to draw a complete shape of figure then I used the remaining time for details such as the stripes on shirt. The most wise-used of time is the one with 4 minutes, I was able to give pattern to the clothes and throw in some black to complete the drawing.
Lastly, I finished with what we call as imagination drawing. I drew a figure then I imagined what pose he would be next so this is the result,
Conclusion, the speed gesture drawing requires the fast observation of subject and the clear construction of poses. Even without details, the drawing can still show the pose if the line of action is correct and the masses of the figure are accurate. Till later guys!
